SUPER JUNIOR

Super Junior is a 13 member K-pop boyband. The group initially debuted with 12 members on November 6, 2005 with their first single, Twins. The original 12 members, in age order (from oldest to youngest), were Lee Teuk (the leader), Hee Chul, Han Kyung, Ye Sung, Kang In, Shin Dong, Sung Min, Eun Hyuk, Dong Hae, Si Won, Ryeo Wook, and Ki Bum. By the time of the debut, eleven of the members were Korean and one was Chinese. The Chinese member, Han Kyung, was picked among from 3000 applicants through auditions held in China by SM Entertainment in 2001. Many of the members had already made a name for themselves prior to Super Junior’s debut through acting, VJ-ing, and modeling. On May 23, 2006 SM Entertainment announced the addition of a new member, Cho Kyu Hyun, making them the 13 member group they are today. After their official debut on November 6, 2005, Super Junior quickly became one of the most popular and successful artists in South Korea. The 13 members of said SM Entertainment group are known for their different, individual skills as each of them specializes in various parts of the entertainment industry. Prior to their debut, most members were (and still are) actors, MCs, models, or DJs. The group consists of (from oldest to youngest) leader Leeteuk, Heechul, Hankyung (or Han Geng, the only Chinese member found through SM's casting in China), Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kibum and Kyuhyun (the latter was added at the beginning of their first single activities, 'U', in May 2006). They have so far released two albums, two singles (one being a collaboration with Dong Bang Shin Ki), and were featured on three SM TOWN compilation albums, along with various Original Soundtracks for Dramas and Movies or other atists' albums. They have also created two sub-units, respectively called Super Junior - K.R.Y. (Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung) and Super Junior - T (Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk) presenting a new, fresh image and singing live only. With a total of 6 'Best New Group' awards collected at the show ceremonies held in Korea on a yearly basis (along with other 11 minor awards won throughout the year on music shows and various award ceremonies), Super Junior was confirmed as the best new male group of 2006. They are currently promoting their highly anticipated 2nd album, "Don't Don", which was released on September 20, 2007.
